Teach a life skill as a

Certified Swim Teacher

Swim Teachers help children and adults to learn how to swim and be comfortable in the water. They teach and develop both swimming and safety skills by providing a fun and educational swim lesson experience.

As a Swim Teacher at DSA, you will have the experience of giving the right start to little ones, most of whom will be getting into the water for the first time in their lives. At DSA, we specialise in teaching students of all ages and abilities. You will be a great mentor to your students, someone whom they will look up to and remember for a very long time.

To become a Swim Teacher you must be of minimum 18 years of age and have the necessary skills. You will go through the recruitment process which may include an initial online screening followed by a water or pool test and a subsequent final interview. 

You will be onboarded for a training period, followed by assisting in teaching class, then on completion of your AUSTWIM certification, have your own independent teaching charge as a Certified Swim Teacher.

A Swim Teacher has a combination of both hard and soft skills.

Hard skills are the technical capabilities and competence that can empower you with the knowledge to teach swimming effectively. Experience in all swimming strokes and turns, diving techniques will help you teach and demonstrate more effectively to students.

Soft skills will help you make the learning experience pleasant, more enjoyable and safe for learners of all ages. They include good communication skills, a passion for teaching, particularly young children and a lot of patience. You will also need a sense of commitment to your students and duty.

 

As a Swim Teacher, you will be working on weekends and other holiday periods as needed. Your classes will be priorly scheduled. You will need to complete a minimum of 14 hours a week.

Opportunities for career growth are fully dependent on your performance and commitment. Progressing as a Swim Teacher includes the possibility of becoming a Swimming Coach. With more experience and further certification, you can also become an Assessor and Pool Deck Manager. Further on, the opportunity of becoming a Teacher Trainer is also open. You can also be absorbed into the Management and handle more responsibility as a Centre Manager.

DSA has multiple Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Shah Alam,  Selangor and Bandar Dato Onn in Johor. A new Centre is also opening in  Penanag.  After initial training in the headquarters at Bukit Jalil, you can be posted at any of the locations as suited.

Swim Teachers are renumerated on a commission basis according to their responsibilities and number of hours of teaching completed. Other perks and benefits are also available.

Guide young champions as a

Swimming Coach

Swimming Coaches help swimmers improve and perfect their swimming abilities which include breathing techniques, stroke correction and overall fitness levels. 

As a Swimming Coach at DSA, you will work with young swimmers, determine their skill levels, provide suitable training methods and enhance their swimming skills for competitive levels or as desired by the swimmer.

Some of the essential skills include essential soft skills like patience, empathy and understanding the varying abilities of different swimmers. Exceptional and successful coaches are those who motivate and inspire while keeping performance a step ahead of results. You should also have  a keen eye to spot and recruit new talent from the budding pool of young swimmers.

The following skills are a pre-requisite

  • Basic understanding on 4 competitive strokes and rules on competitive strokes 
  • Possess basic skills to conduct stroke corrections 
  • If you have been a DSA student, you must be at least Mini Squad Level in the DSA Swimming Programs 
  • High level of discipline, responsibility, reliability and commitment 
  • Good communication skill with swimmers, parents and fellow coaches 
  • Able to work as a team with fellow coaches 

As a Swim Coach, you will be working on weekends and other holiday periods as needed. Your training schedule will be priorly arranged at different locations as may be needed.

Opportunities for career growth are fully dependent on your performance and commitment. You can also be absorbed into the Management and handle more responsibility as a Senior Coach, Head Coach or Program Manager.

The Front Face of DSA

Customer Service Executive

As a Customer Service Administrator at DSA, you will be the first point of contact for all our swimmers, parents and patrons. You will be providing assistance and support to customers for a range of different activities, programs and/or events. This will involve responding to inquiries or complaints, and providing solutions or alternative suggestions which help in alleviating their problems or issues they may be facing.

6-day week (Tue-Sun) for full-time for position.

The foremost skill is a good command over the major spoken languages together with a high sense of empathy to understand and connect with the customer.

Proven experience in office administration is preferable. Familiarity with basic office computer software communication skills together with an aptitude to learn is essential. Commitment and integrity are other required qualities.

You can either chose a part-time position open for weekends only (Sat-Sun) or full-time positions (Tues-Sun).

In a part-time position, you will be at the swim Centres  on weekends (Sat-Sun) being the front face of DSA as the counter staff. Your daily tasks will include but not restricted to responding to customer inquiries, classes and session scheduling, attending to customer issues, coordinating class schedules with swim teachers. 

Full-time position will require responding to online enquires through email and telephones while also addressing and coordinating other office administration responsibilities as may be needed.

Opportunities for career growth are fully dependent on your performance and commitment. Progressing as a Customer Service Executive includes the possibility of being a Supervisor and Junior Team Leader. With more experience you can further advance as a Senior Team Leader and a Manager.

DSA has multiple Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Shah Alam and Bandar Dato Onn in Johor. A new Centre is also opening in  Penang.  While full-time positions are for the headquarters in Bukit Jalil, part-time positions are open for other Centres also.

While part-time positions are  are renumerated on a hourly basis according to their responsibilities, full-time positions will be on a monthly salary basis. Other perks and benefits are also available for full-time employess.

The First Responder

Lifeguard & Facilities Support

As a Lifeguard at DSA’s facilities, your primary duty will be to maintain swimmer safety. You will also monitor water conditions and swimmer behavior, enforcing safety rules and paying close attention to swimmer activities and behavior.  You may also be involved in steps to maintain overall safety of the pool areas by monitoring weather and water conditions for signs of danger.

To become a Lifeguard at DSA, you must be of minimum 18 years of age and have basic water confidence. You will go through the recruitment process which may include an initial online screening followed by a water or pool test and a subsequent final interview. 

You will be onboarded for a probationary period of 3 months during which you will be given the opportunity to complete the Bronze Medallion and subsequent training to become a Certified Life Guard. You will also undergo training about the  maintenance of different areas of a swimming facility.

As a first responder to any emergencies in an around water, you will need the following essential skills

  • Good physical fitness levels
  • Good swimming skills and complete water confidence 
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Attention to detail, staying alert and focused
  • Patience and ability to remain calm in a stressful situation or emergency
  • Knowledge of public safety and security

Opportunities for career growth as a Lifeguard and Facilities Support include the rise to a Supervisor and Team Leader. With more experience you can further advance as a Team Manager handling the support operations of a full team of Lifeguards for a Centre.

During the period of probation, you will be at the headquarters in Bukit Jalil. On completion of your certification as a Lifeguard, you will be placed in any of the multiple centres in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

All Lifeguard full-time positions will be on a monthly salary basis, payable from the period of training. Besides this, allowances are also available on completion of the probationary period and certification.
